Your Love/This Town

from The Four Corners by Myke Mazzei

/

about

This song is probably the 2nd-most sombre song I've ever committed to tape. Listen at your own discretion! The lyrics are bitter, but the tune is pretty.

I sang the vocals lying down on my back with the microphone wrapped around a doorknob and dangling above me. My organ skills are hilariously bad, but the mixing job hides it fairly well. Also, the lead guitar at the end was just a temporary thing-- I was hoping to overdub a wailing saxophone here instead, but things turned out differently.

I have since stopped playing this song live. Every time I approached playing it with another musician, they would end of breaking up with their significant other shortly after. Such is the perceived sway of my songs... or maybe I'm just crazy!

lyrics

This town is dead to me now.
You made me feel like a failure.
I'll hate you forever.
I'll hate you forever.

Your love is dead to me now.
You made me feel like I'm a failure.
And I'll hate you forever.
I'll hate you forever.
I'll hate you forever.
I'll hate you forever.
But I'll love you forever.
And I'll love you... forever.
